What "capture" actually means for a specialist recruiter

The intake layer of the loop. Reading a profile, a spec, or an inbound the way a specialist would, then storing what matters with the source still attached.

Capture is the least glamorous pillar and the one everything else depends on. If the intake layer is thin, the rest of the loop compounds thinness. If it is honest, the rest of the loop compounds trust.

The three things capture is not

It is not a note field. It is not a chat log. It is not a summary you rewrite in your own words and then can never verify again. Every one of those loses the source, and once the source is gone the memory downstream is guesswork.

What Holi actually captures

Three shapes, over and over, all week:

  1. A person. A LinkedIn profile, a CV, a portfolio site, a conference bio. Holi reads it once, structures it against your niche vocabulary, and stores the useful bits: recent moves, stated interests, tools they name, the phrase they use for their own specialism.
  2. A brief. A job spec, a Slack message from a hiring manager, a voice note after a client call. Same treatment: what is the role really, what is the non-obvious constraint, what is the sentence the client kept coming back to.
  3. A signal. A post, a comment, a fundraise, a talk, a promotion. The small thing that says "now is a good time to reach out about X".

Each one is stored with a visible source line. If Holi surfaces it back to you three months later, you can see exactly where it came from before you decide to use it.

Why the source line is the whole game

Specialist recruiters live or die on getting the small facts right. Naming the wrong ex-employer, misquoting a talk, attributing a comment to the wrong person, any of those is a reputational hit that costs more than a placement. A capture layer without receipts eventually forces you to fact-check the AI before every send, which is worse than typing it yourself.

Holi's capture layer keeps the receipt attached to the signal for its whole life inside the loop. Repurpose reads it. Outreach quotes it. Command Center references it. The learning loop reviews it. Nothing gets one step removed from the thing it started as.

The 90-second read

The recruiters we sit next to spend, on average, forty seconds on a profile before deciding to skip it or engage. Capture is built for that pace. Paste a URL, glance at the structured read, decide. If you engage, the capture is already in memory and repurpose can start immediately.

What good capture looks like at the end of a week

Not a longer notes column. A denser one. Fewer entries, richer entries, every entry pointing at the thing it came from. A week later you can ask Holi "who did I meet this week who works in cardiothoracic imaging" and get a two-line answer with three source links, not a list of names you now have to re-read.

Capture is the pillar that makes every other pillar honest. Get it right and the loop compounds. Get it wrong and the loop just gets loud.

Asked, and answered

What does 'capture' mean inside Holi?
It is the intake layer. Anything you look at, paste, or forward becomes structured signal with the original source still attached, ready to be reused later without retyping.
How is capture different from a CRM note field?
A CRM note is a bucket you type into. Capture reads the underlying source, structures it against your niche vocabulary, and keeps the pointer to where it came from, so the note stays trustworthy.
Why does source attribution matter so much?
Because specialist reputations are built on getting the small facts right. If Holi surfaces a quote or a claim later, the source line lets you check it in one click before you send anything on.
