The word "dashboard" carries a promise Holi refuses to make. A dashboard implies that if you look at enough tiles you will know what to do. Specialists do not need to know more. They need to know what to do next.
Command Center is the pillar that answers that.
What replaced the dashboard
A short editorial list. Between five and fifteen items on any given morning. Each item is one of four things:
- Someone to reply to. With the draft already sitting under it, from repurpose.
- A draft to review. Written overnight against something capture pulled in yesterday.
- A signal that changed. A candidate moved, a client posted, a spec shifted. With the source line.
- A decision Holi needs. Small choices that keep the loop running, phrased as one question with two suggested answers.
That is it. No tiles. No traffic lights. No graphs of activity across a fourteen-day rolling window.
Why this shape
Because specialist recruiters we sit next to close their CRM homepage by 10am and never open it again for the rest of the day. They live in inbox and LinkedIn. A working surface that competes with those on layout terms loses; a working surface that reads like a well-edited list of moves gets returned to.
What "today" means
Today, in Command Center, is not "everything due today". It is "everything Holi thinks is worth your attention today, given what happened since you last looked". So if nothing changed on a project overnight, that project does not appear. If a candidate you had not looked at in six weeks just posted about starting a job search, that candidate appears at the top.
The list re-renders quietly across the day as new signals land. It never grows past a length you can read in a sitting.
What Command Center is not
It is not a to-do app. You do not add items to it manually. The whole point is that Holi curates the list from the loop, so you spend your morning actioning rather than tidying.
It is not a metrics screen. Metrics live in a separate weekly view for the people who want them, so they do not clutter the daily surface.
It is not a substitute for the CRM. Anything you action from Command Center writes back to the CRM the same day. The CRM stays the system of record; Command Center is the working surface.
The move that made this pillar real
The move was deciding that Holi would produce a shorter list, not a bigger one. Every temptation in this category is to add another tile, another lane, another rolling widget. We took the opposite bet: fewer items, higher quality, all of them actionable, none of them decorative.
The measure of a working Command Center is not how much is on it. It is what percentage of items got actioned before the end of the day. On the desks we watch, that number sits between 70 and 90, every day, without heroics.
That is what a today list looks like when it replaces a dashboard.
